Council of the Great City Schools

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Wednesday, 11:00-11:50 a.m. (ET)

Jill Hobson, IMS Global Learning Consortium Institutional Program Manager, will join a panel with representatives from Houston ISD, Texas Education Agency, and Itslearning for a presentation on the Competencies and Academics Standards Exchange (CASE).

What is CASE and Why Does it Matter?
Until very recently, all states published state learning standards in static forms, such as PDFs or docs. These types are not "machine-readable" and fell short of the need to meta-tag digital resources in order to provide effective learner-centered instruction ecosystems.  Districts around the USA were working hard to implement standards-based cohesive digital environments, but in order to truly enable data-informed learning, a standard way of naming and linking Learning Outcomes was needed. Districts partnered with IMS Global and vendor-partners to build a solution.
If you are attending the conference and want to learn more about CASE or discuss ways to get involved with IMS Global Learning Consortium, contact Jill Hobson at to meet while you are in Pittsburgh.
