Accelerating Third-Party Tool Integration to Support Teaching & Learning
This session will detail effective strategies used by the University of Wisconsin System Administration (UWSA) to leverage 1EdTech Consortium standards and a formal, centralized application vetting process to increase the rate of LMS and learning tool integration. As UWSA was implementing Canvas for its Digital Learning Environment, they developed a new standards-based approach to integrating third-party tools that streamlined the process, ensured accessibility, and maintained the privacy and safety of user data. In developing this process, UWSA leveraged the 1EdTech App Vetting rubric and the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard. The result? Within eight months, UWSA evaluated and integrated more than 50 tools in its new Digital Learning Environment.
