Front-End Developer: IMS Global, the world leader in EdTech interoperability and impact, is is looking for an experienced, independent Front-End Developer to work on an education technology standards comparison and integration application. This position is 100% remote, working as part of a small, multi-functional team. You must be confident at working alone, defining your own objectives and deliverables, be a self-starter, willing to ask questions and join the dots yourself to deliver mission critical solutions aligned to the organization’s roadmap, business goals, and timeframe. Learn more about the responsibility and requirements for this position.

UX/UI Designer: IMS Global Learning Consortium is looking for a Contract User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) expert that can take our business requirements, and other artifacts as well as user research, and stakeholder feedback and translate them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes for both consumer-facing and internal-facing applications. You will builds dev-ready compelling designs and interactive user interfaces that meet the organization’s vision and bring the application to life. Technical Standards Architect: IMS Global Learning Consortium is the world’s leading organization dedicated to education technology innovation and interoperability,  committed to better learning through better learning technology.  We have openings for technical standards architects.  

Architects assume responsibility for coordinating, developing and publishing interoperability standards based upon member’s requirements, input and collaboration.   

The successful will have the ability to lead technical progress in workgroups,  the skills to provide technical support to members implementing the standards, and the software development skills to create and update software libraries and tools to advise members with their integrations.

Technical Program Manager: IMS Global Learning Consortium is the world’s leading organization dedicated to education technology innovation and interoperability,  committed to better learning through better learning technology. We have a opening for a Technical Program Manager.  

The program manager serves as product owner of one or more IMS standards, responsible for advancing the success of the standard in the market, facilitating technical project group sessions and managing the efforts of contributing software architects, engineers and developers related to the assigned products.

The program manager will facilitate an agile software specification development process, be skilled at coordinating internal resources and third parties and develop detailed project plans to propel and track progress.

He/she will own the product’s presentation on IMS web sites, oversee product-related member forums, and drive the delivery of impactful products to promote education technology interoperability.   The program manager organizes and ensures all releases are delivered on schedule within scope and budgeted resources.Learn more about the responsibility and requirements for this position.


 

Job Requisition: Front-End Developer

Responsibilities

  • Own the user facing components of the 1EdTech ecosystem
  • Collaborate in a small team to define and develop product requirements
  • Work hand-in-hand with our back-end architects to refine the APIs required by the UI
  • Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, scalable, and accessible web applications based on business needs
  • Writing reusable, testable, scalable, maintainable, and efficient code

Skills And Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of front-end frameworks like React, Angular, Backbone, etc.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented design and RESTful web services
  • Proficiency in at least one back-end programming language, e.g. Java, Node.js, etc.
  • Solid understanding and experience with Docker, Google Cloud Platform, and Kubernetes, including experience deploying, monitoring and updating applications
  • Proficient using GitHub for source code control, with experience of GitFlow.
  • Working experience of web based security specifications and compliance, especially Oauth2.
  • Understand and have experience of using Fluture.
  • Experience with user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Understanding of the fundamental design principles behind scalable applications
  • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
  • Experience in back-end development, other languages, and frameworks (java, spring etc) is an advantage

 

Job Requisition: UX/UI Designer

Responsibilities

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with the team, SMEs, and the broader organization to create compelling UI/UX for the application
  • Collaborate with the team in prioritizing functional requirements and developing the design solution approach
  • Make deliberate design decisions to translate design concepts and business requirements into user stories, user journeys, storyboards, process flows, interactive prototypes, and wireframes that define solutions true to the stated goals and product vision
  • Present design concepts and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions
  • Ensure the design and implementation use accessibility best practices
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core and new functionality and features, rapidly test and iterate designs
  • Define and adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
  • Orchestrate and incorporate feedback from usability testing

Skills And Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
  • Strong portfolio of both UX and UI skill sets
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.
  • Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, Invision, Axure,, or similar visual design and wireframing tools
  • Knowledgeable of accessibility best practices including WCAG
  • Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript
  • Understanding of Node.JS a plus
  • Strong communication, remote interaction, and organization skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent time-management and ability to deliver to deadlines

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of IMS standards including:

The successful will have the ability to lead technical progress in workgroups,  the skills to provide technical support to members implementing the standards, and the software development skills to create and update software libraries and tools to advise members with their integrations.

The architect will be expected to effectively communicate technical details to a technical and non-technical audiences verbally and in writing.  The architect will ensure the standards within their leadership are integrated with other IMS standards and practices in a cohesive educational technology ecosystem.

Duties include:

  • Overseeing and developing standard specifications in assigned responsibility, contribute to the requirements and development of compliance certification software suite and libraries which help members more quickly implement IMS standards
  • Lead communications and other activities with IMS Members centered around the assigned standards to develop best practices and developer guides and assist with authoring and editing of the documents 
  • Adopt an agile method of development to publish minimal viable products quickly and refine and iterate over time
  • Provide timely technical guidance and consultation to IMS member organizations to facilitate understanding, adoption, certification and implementation testing as needed
  • Actively contribute to the IMS knowledge base and member’s forum via frequently asked questions and answers, including responding to IMS member posted questions
  • Work to build and manage a community of developers and implementers via active collaboration, providing support and tools to grow and foster community participation by members
  • Support the assigned program manager responsible for organizing workgroups, planning and communicating workgroup activities 
  • Track issues and concerns related to compliance certification for improvements to the testsuite 
  • Lead the alignment of assigned standards with other IMS standards and ecosystem-wide standards such as security, data and other cross-cutting topics and contribute to those IMS ecosystem efforts 
  • Provide member training and bootcamps to help speed adoption and implementations
  • Occasionally represent IMS at various meetings and conferences as agreed in advance
  • Help to grow and provide direction for future IMS standards development
  • Works closely with colleagues on the IMS staff
  • Attend weekly staff calls
  • Provide a weekly report  shared with all staff
  • Ensure members receive priority support and not share technical details with non-members prior to public release
  • Provide on average a minimum of 40 hours of work to IMS per week in performance of the above services.Normal hours of operation are based upon US Eastern Time zone

Responsibilities:

  • Manage agile specification development and related projects from initiation through completion, and promote project management best practice
  • Coordinate with sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams to define and document product value, features, requirements, scope, plans and outcomes
  • Based on feedback from management and the Product Steering Committee help to balance the project portfolio, maintain updated priorities, and allocate staff resources across projects
  • Provide status updates (both verbally and in writing) to project groups, stakeholders, and senior leadership
  • Guide and coach participants in adopting agile / scrum best practices and values
  • Prepare and archive project management documentation
  • Maintain Github repos related to specification development
  • Focus on and build community providing support and documentation for members

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of experience managing technology projects; of which at least 2 years should be managing projects using agile /scrum methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, organization, and attention to detail
  • Experience using and maintaining Github repositories or related tools
  • Knowledge and experience with IMS standards and APIs
  • Embraces ownership in the success of one or more IMS standards products
  • A quick learner, self-directed possessing excellent problem-solving skills
  • Enjoy helping others solve problems
  • Technical support or customer service experience
  • Technical writing experience
  • Comfortable presenting technical information to a general or technical audience
